JIS Stock Anchor is a traditional stock anchor manufactured in accordance with Japanese marine practice for fishing vessels, workboats, barges, and long-term mooring applications. The anchor consists of a forged or cast steel shank, fixed stock, crown, and two flukes. The stock keeps the anchor in the correct landing position, allowing one fluke to penetrate the seabed rapidly and develop reliable holding power. Standard weights range from 500 kg to 20,000 kg, with larger sizes available upon request. Products are manufactured from marine-grade cast steel and can be supplied with ABS, BV, CCS, DNV, LR, NK, KR, RINA, RS, and RMRS certificates.
JIS Stock Anchor is a conventional stock anchor designed according to Japanese Industrial Standards for marine anchoring applications. Unlike stockless anchors, the JIS Stock Anchor incorporates a fixed transverse stock positioned perpendicular to the shank. During anchoring, the stock forces one fluke into the seabed while keeping the other fluke exposed, allowing the anchor to achieve stable penetration and holding performance in soft and medium seabed conditions.
The anchor is manufactured from marine-grade cast steel, followed by heat treatment, machining, dimensional inspection, and proof testing. Standard products are available in nominal weights from 500 kg to 20,000 kg, covering fishing vessels, tugboats, barges, pontoons, workboats, dredgers, inland ships, and permanent mooring systems. Larger customized anchors can be manufactured according to customer drawings or project specifications.
Compared with stockless anchors, the JIS Stock Anchor provides stable positioning after landing because the stock prevents the anchor from rolling. It performs well on mud, sand, clay, and mixed seabeds, making it suitable for vessels that require reliable long-term anchoring. Due to the external stock, however, it requires more storage space and is generally not selected as the bow anchor for modern large commercial ships equipped with recessed anchor pockets.

Manufacturing Standards: Manufactured from marine-grade cast steel in accordance with Japanese Industrial Standard (JIS) requirements and applicable marine anchor manufacturing specifications. Production follows IACS Unified Requirement A1, ISO 1704, and classification society requirements where applicable. Products are available with certification from ABS, BV, CCS, DNV, LR, NK, KR, RINA, RS, and RMRS.
Testing Standards: Each anchor undergoes chemical composition verification, casting inspection, dimensional inspection, heat treatment verification, mechanical property testing, proof load testing, visual inspection, non-destructive examination (MPI/UT where applicable), suspension testing, and permanent identification marking before shipment. Material certificates, inspection reports, and classification society certificates are available upon request.
Application Standards: Suitable for fishing vessels, tugboats, barges, dredgers, inland cargo vessels, pontoons, floating docks, workboats, and permanent mooring systems operating on sand, mud, clay, and mixed seabeds. Due to its fixed stock, the anchor is primarily used where compact anchor pockets are not required and long-term holding performance is preferred.
Maintenance Standards: Inspect the anchor regularly for stock straightness, shank deformation, fluke wear, casting defects, corrosion, coating damage, and identification markings. Verify that the stock remains securely fixed and free from structural damage. Inspection, repair, and replacement should comply with the vessel's maintenance program and the requirements of the applicable classification society.
