Offshore Mooring Application

STEVSHARK Anchor is a High Holding Power (HHP) drag embedment offshore anchor developed for permanent and temporary offshore mooring systems. Designed specifically for hard clays, dense sands, limestone, calcarenite, coral, and over-consolidated soils, the anchor incorporates reinforced shanks, sharp fluke edges, shark teeth, and optional ballast to improve penetration where conventional drag anchors become ineffective. Standard anchor sizes range from 1.5 t to 65 t, with customized configurations available for offshore oil & gas, floating wind, dredging, and marine renewable energy projects.

  • Introduction

STEVSHARK Anchor is an offshore drag embedment anchor (DEA) developed for demanding seabed conditions where conventional drag anchors cannot achieve sufficient penetration. Based on the STEVPRIS platform, the STEVSHARK design incorporates reinforced structural members, hardened cutter teeth, sharp fluke tips, reinforced leading edges, and optional internal ballast, allowing the anchor to penetrate cemented soils, hard clay, calcarenite, limestone, coral formations, and dense sand layers while maintaining high holding capacity.

The anchor is manufactured from high-strength offshore structural steel through welded fabrication, precision machining, dimensional inspection, and proof testing. Standard products are available from 1.5 tonnes to 65 tonnes, while customized anchor weights and ballast configurations are available according to project requirements. The hollow fluke may be internally ballasted by as much as 60% of the anchor weight to improve initial penetration in difficult seabed conditions.

Unlike conventional drag anchors optimized for soft clay, the STEVSHARK Anchor is engineered for challenging offshore environments. Adjustable fluke angles allow optimization for different soil profiles, while the reinforced shank provides the structural capacity required for high mooring loads. The anchor is widely used for FPSOs, MODUs, semi-submersibles, jack-up rigs, offshore construction vessels, dredgers, floating offshore wind projects, and permanent offshore mooring systems.

    Standards

    Name: Offshore Anchor STEVSHARK Anchor

    MOQ: 1 Piece

Package: Steel Frame / Bulk Cargo

Manufacturing Standards: Manufactured from high-strength offshore structural steel in accordance with API RP 2SK, ISO 19901-7, DNV-ST-N001, DNV-RP-E301, and applicable offshore mooring engineering practices. The anchor is fabricated using certified welding procedures, dimensional inspection, and structural quality control for offshore service.

Testing Standards: Each anchor undergoes material verification, welding inspection, dimensional inspection, proof load testing, ultrasonic testing (UT), magnetic particle inspection (MPI), mechanical property testing, coating inspection, and final assembly verification before delivery. Prototype anchors may additionally undergo full-scale seabed testing, penetration testing, holding capacity verification, and installation trials according to project requirements.

Application Standards: Suitable for FPSOs, FSO units, semi-submersibles, drilling rigs, offshore construction vessels, dredgers, floating offshore wind turbines, marine renewable energy projects, subsea installations, and permanent or temporary offshore mooring systems operating in hard clay, limestone, calcarenite, dense sand, coral, and other challenging seabed conditions.

Maintenance Standards: Inspect the anchor before deployment for fluke wear, cutter tooth condition, shank deformation, padeye wear, weld integrity, corrosion, protective coating condition, and identification markings. After recovery, remove marine growth and inspect all structural components using visual and non-destructive examination where required. Inspection intervals should comply with the offshore operator's integrity management program and the applicable classification society requirements.
