Anchor Type
Admiralty Anchor, also known as the Fisherman's Anchor, is a traditional stock anchor designed with a straight shank, two fixed flukes, and a transverse stock positioned at 90° to the arms. The stock forces one fluke to penetrate the seabed quickly, providing reliable holding performance on rock, gravel, sand, mud, and mixed seabeds. Standard products are available from 50 kg to 10,000 kg, with larger sizes available upon request. Manufactured from marine-grade cast steel, the anchor can be supplied with ABS, BV, CCS, DNV, LR, NK, KR, IRS, RMRS, and RS certification.
Admiralty Anchor is one of the earliest and most widely recognized marine anchor designs. Unlike stockless anchors, it incorporates a fixed transverse stock mounted perpendicular to the shank. During deployment, the stock rotates the anchor until one fluke penetrates the seabed while the opposite fluke remains above the surface, allowing the anchor to achieve stable holding without relying on movable components. This simple mechanical design has been used for centuries on naval vessels, fishing boats, sailing ships, workboats, and small commercial vessels.
The anchor is manufactured from marine-grade cast steel through precision casting, heat treatment, machining, proof testing, and dimensional inspection. Standard production covers nominal weights from 50 kg to 10,000 kg, while common commercial sizes range from 60 kg to 2,500 kg. Customized weights and dimensions can be manufactured according to project requirements and classification society rules.
One of the primary advantages of the Admiralty Anchor is its ability to perform on hard or irregular seabeds. The fixed flukes can hook around rocks, coral, and gravel where many stockless anchors are less effective. It also provides reliable penetration in mud and sand, making it suitable for vessels operating in changing seabed conditions. The anchor is compatible with stud link anchor chains, end shackles, and swivel assemblies to form a complete anchoring system.

Manufacturing Standards: Manufactured from marine-grade cast steel in accordance with GB/T 545-1996, IACS Unified Requirement A1, ISO 1704, and the applicable requirements of ABS, BV, CCS, DNV, LR, NK, KR, IRS, RMRS, and RS. Casting, heat treatment, machining, and dimensional inspection are performed under approved quality control procedures for marine anchor production.
Testing Standards: Each anchor undergoes chemical composition verification, casting inspection, dimensional inspection, proof load testing, mechanical property testing, heat treatment verification, visual inspection, magnetic particle inspection (MPI) where applicable, suspension testing, and permanent identification marking before shipment. Material certificates, inspection reports, and classification society certificates are available upon request.
Application Standards: Suitable for fishing vessels, naval vessels, sailing ships, tugboats, barges, workboats, training ships, harbor craft, and permanent mooring systems operating on rock, gravel, coral, sand, mud, and mixed seabeds. The fixed-stock design provides reliable holding performance where secure penetration and seabed engagement are required.
Maintenance Standards: Inspect the anchor regularly for stock straightness, fluke wear, shank deformation, casting defects, corrosion, coating damage, and identification markings. Verify that the stock remains securely attached and free from structural damage. Inspection and maintenance should comply with the vessel's planned maintenance program and the requirements of the applicable classification society.
