Plain Segmented Chain Wheels close left right

Plain Segmented Chain Wheels

Plain Segmented Chain Wheels are designed for bucket elevators and conveyors operating with DIN 764, DIN 766 or CICSA LH round steel chains. The wheels can also work with DIN 5699 and DIN 745 shackles, ATS bucket attachments and ALH/BLH scraper attachments. Replaceable flat segments made of C45 steel undergo induction hardening for improved wear resistance. A welded steel hub with material discharge openings helps prevent accumulated dust from interfering with operation. We machine the bore according to shaft dimensions and can provide a keyway or prepare the hub for a keyless locking device. The segmented construction enables maintenance personnel to replace worn running sections without replacing the complete wheel.

  • Introduction

Plain Segmented Chain Wheels provide chain support and guidance in bucket elevators and bulk material conveyors. They use a smooth running surface instead of conventional sprocket teeth, making them suitable for systems in which round steel chains, bucket shackles or scraper attachments travel over the wheel rim.

The wheel consists of replaceable flat running segments installed on a welded steel hub. The segments use C45 steel and receive induction hardening to improve resistance to surface wear caused by continuous chain contact. When the running surface reaches its permissible wear limit, operators can replace the affected segments while retaining the hub, which reduces replacement costs and equipment downtime.

Openings in the hub allow dust and loose material to discharge instead of accumulating around the wheel. This feature supports stable chain movement in elevators and conveyors that handle powders, ash, grains, minerals and other bulk materials.

We machine the shaft bore according to the installation requirements. The wheel can use a conventional keyed shaft connection or a keyless locking device. Standard catalogue models cover nominal diameters from 450 to 800 mm and chain diameters from 13 to 26 mm, while other wheel diameters are available on request.
