TOPONE Round Steel Chain Pocket Wheels use precisely formed concave pockets to engage round steel chain links in drive and return systems. Unlike a conventional projecting-tooth sprocket, the pocket wheel supports each link across several contact areas, which distributes contact along the chain profile and promotes controlled engagement as the chain enters and leaves the wheel.
Partial induction contour hardening can be applied to the chain pockets to improve wear resistance at the principal contact surfaces. Increasing the number of pockets generally produces smoother chain movement while reducing wear, imbalance and the polygon effect. Technical reference
TOPONE can manufacture pocket wheels as one-piece or multi-piece components. Depending on the approved design, the wheel can be machined from solid material or produced as a welded assembly. Pocket Design
Each concave pocket follows the geometry of the matching round steel chain. The pocket profile must correspond to the chain diameter, pitch and link dimensions because an incorrect profile can cause poor seating, uneven load distribution and accelerated wear.
